Similes and smiles

Form 4 have been focusing on poetry this week in English.

They discussed a variety of poetry and looked at key features such as alliteration and similes. They then had a chance to write two poems on the theme of autumn. The first was an acrostic poem and the second a shape. The children also thought carefully about the presentation of their poems.

In maths, the children began the week by looking at position and direction. They had to draw their own treasure maps and then asked each other questions about where certain objects were using coordinates and how they could move between them using compass directions.

Roman towns and roads were the focus in humanities lessons and the children began their new topic of teeth and digestion in science with a close look at their own teeth using dental mirrors.
