DoctorSaurus!

The children arrived at school on Monday to discover that our dinosaurs had come to life! We found them in the garden celebrating Fireworks Night early by having a Bonfire and toasting marshmallows. We decided to phone the other classes and found out that all of the dinosaurs across Pre-Prep had been having Bonfires.

The children came up with different theories about what had happened before we read What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night. This taught us that in the month of November, all of the dinosaurs come to life when we aren’t here!

The Nursery children decided it would be best to put them away overnight so they couldn’t get up to anymore mischief.

Unfortunately, this plan did not work. The small indoor dinosaurs broke the big dinosaurs out of the shed and we arrived on Tuesday to find that they had been roleplaying as doctors and reading DoctorSaurus! The Nursery children were a little worried about what else they might do so we decided to make a trap on the book shelf.

The dinosaurs were too strong for this trap and managed to break out again! We found them on Wednesday morning hanging from the ceiling. The children thought they might be a bit bored so thought it might be good to leave them out to play. Unfortunately, when the children went off to assembly, the dinosaurs stole all of the snacks! We had to follow the clues to collect them all back up.

Those cheeky dinosaurs had to be locked up again after that, so the children buried them in the sand pit, covered them in blankets, cardboard, tape, and even put chairs on top. However, those strong dinosaurs managed to get out again!

On Thursday, the dinosaurs had been reading The Diggersaurs, and had made a huge muddy mess in the garden. The children showed great teamwork when working together to clean it up and when building another trap. We are very excited to find out what happens next.

Not only have we been trapping dinosaurs all week, but we have also been learning about Bonfire Night, creating natural fire pictures, large firework mark making, firework patterns and learning how to keep safe during Bonfire Night celebrations.

Our special leaf was awarded this week to someone who has been working very hard to join in with group discussions and coming up with new ideas and new ways of doing things. She was able to suggest ways to keep safe around bonfires, and has shown great imagination during DiNovember.

Next week we will be celebrating Diwali and we are looking forward to our library visit. Stay tuned to see what our dinosaurs get up to next! Have a wonderful weekend.
